Vlahas, 75, of Oakfield Township, Greenville passed away Friday October 6, 2006 at Spectrum Health United Memorial United Campus in Greenville. Julia was born on July 27, 1931 in Harbor Springs, the daughter of Henry and Almina Spaulding Luettjohann. Julia gradated from Belding High School with the class of 1949 and served as the Ionia Free Fair's Queen in 1949. At the beginning of her reign as fair queen, she enjoyed a helicopter ride with then governor Soapy Williams. Julia was a member of the Belding Art Club, Belding Garden Club and the "Sewing" club. Julia also served as co-chair of the Belding Apple Fest in its early years. Julia and Ted were proud of having saved and restored two of Belding Victorian era homes; the Wilson Home on Pearl St. and Dr. Hollard's home on Pleasant St. She was married on September 30, 1950 in Belding to Theodore C. "Ted" Vlahas and he survives along with their children; Gail and Rick Davis of Gowen, Susan and Paul Ponchillia of Three Rivers, Jay and Denise Vlahas of Greenville and Todd Vlahas and Tracy Chapin of Greenville. Julia is also survived by her grand children; Chad Merritt, Andy and Mandi Merritt, Kimberly and John Campbell, Karen and Adam Hansen, Krista Vlahas and Christopher Vlahas, her great-grand children; Jordan Campbell, Taylor Campbell, Alissa Campbell, Ashley Merritt, Breanna Merritt, and Lauren Merritt. Her brothers and their spouses; Henry R. and Alyce Luettjohann of Concho, Ariz. and John P. and Lynne Luettjohann of Sedona, Ariz. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home in Belding with Pastor Frank Marsh of Spencer Mills Orthodox Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will follow in River Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 6-8 at the Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to The Belding Library or The American Legion Post 203, Ladies Auxiliary.
