He was born in Germany April 21, 1878,and moved to this country in 1904, settling in Holland. He moved to Ionia and entered the employment of the Ypsilanti Reed Feb. 13, 1918, and remained in the employment of this company and its successor, the Ionia Manufacturing company, until his death. He was married to Olga Vogt Nov. 6, 1902, in Germany. She died Sept. 28, 1943. He was married to Mrs. Mary VanBaaren of Ionia Sept. 16, 1950. Surviving him is the wife, Mary; four sons, Harry, Bernard, and Verner of Ionia and George, Lansing; one daughter, Mrs. Christen Olmstead of Saranac; eight grandchildren; and three brothers and two sisters, all in Germany. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. at the Boynton funeral home. Dr. Howard A. Smith will officiate. Interment will be in the family lot, Highland Park cemetery.
