Ionia Sentinel-Standard – Wed. Jan. 28, 1987

MASON- Jean C. Vogt, 69, of 2035 Jolly Road, Mason, formerly of Ionia, died 
Monday at the Edward W. Sparrow Hospital in Lansing.

She was born Oct. 17, 1917 in Ionia, the daughter of Ray and Clarabel Curtis. 

She was a graduate of Ionia High School in 1935 and Michigan State College in 
1939.

She married Verner Vogt in 1949.

She was employed at the Ionia Bureau of Social Services and retired, after 24 
years, from the Lansing Department of Social Services.

She served in the Armed Services from 1943 to 1945, one year and two months 
overseas in the Pacific (New Guinea, Southern Philippines, and Luzon) as a 
photo lab tech.

Her parents and one sister, Maxine Haga, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband, Verner, one daughter, Karen Beery of Traverse 
City; one son, Carl of Mason; five grandchildren; one aunt and several nieces 
and nephews.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Rich Street Chapel of the 
Montgomery Funeral Home, the Rev. John Cermak of Okemos Community Church 
officiating. 

Burial will be at Woodard Lake Cemetery.

The family will be at the funeral home today, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 
8:30 p.m.

A memorial has been established for Okemos Community Church in care of the 
funeral home.
