Death was due to apoplexy. He was 80 years of age. With his brother, Benjamin Vosper whose death occurred in July, James Vosper had been associated in the practice of law and in lumber operations for more than 55 years. He was a member of the Ionia County Bar association for more than half a century and had been for many years active in local democratic circles, for 25 years he was a member of the Ionia board of Education, at one time being president. He was also alderman of his ward for many years. Born in Boston township he attended the Ionia county schools and later went to Ypsilanti normal, graduating in 1866. After teaching school for several years he was united in marriage December 28, 1875 to Miss Livonia S. Holmes and lived in the family home for five years. He then formed the partnership with his brother Benjamin that lasted the remainder of their lives. Besides the extensive law practice in this county at that time, the brothers acquired large lumbering interests in the northern part of the state and much of their attention was given to these interests. Mr. Vosper was a member of St. John’s Episcopal church and was one of the leaders in the church. He is survived besides his widow by three children, Richard Vosper, of (illegible), Zaidie Vosper, of Chicago, and Mrs. Isolene Chaddock, of Ypsilanti. The funeral will be held Thursday at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. John Wilkinson, of Grand Haven in charge, assisted by Rev. Tomas Leroy Parker, of St. John’s. Interment will be in Highland Park cemetery.
