Harry Vriese Sr. age 84 of Ionia went to be with his Lord Nov. 28, 2015 in
Ionia.  He was born April 28, 1931 in the Netherlands the son of Jan and Alka
(Molema) Vrieze.  Henry married Elizabeth Koning Dec. 19, 1952 in the
Netherlands and immigrated to the USA.  Liz preceded him in death Nov. 14, 1975.
 He went on to marry Nellie Huizinga of New York State Aug. 30, 1986.  Nellie
preceded him in death Jan. 25, 2011.

Harry was a lifetime farmer of Ionia County New York and New Jersey.  He came
from a family that was active in the Dutch Resistance which led him to become a
very kind and generous man who touched the lives of many people.  He dearly
loved his children and grandchildren and will be greatly missed.  

He is survived by his children John (Mary) Vriese of Belding Margaret (Richard)
Applebee of Hudsonville Arleen Edwards of Ionia Harry (Kristin) Vriese of Ionia
and Elizabeth (Robert) Peabody of Ionia; step children Henry( Lois) Huizinga of
New York Grace (Sidney) Talma of New York John (Michelle) Huizinga of New York
Jake Huizinga of New York and Fonda (Alan) Kasper of Ionia; sister Grace (Don)
Smith of Florida; nieces nephews 34 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. 
He was preceded in death by his parents; two wives; sister Jenny Spalink; and a
granddaughter Megan Applebee

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday Dec. 3, 2015 at Shiloh Community
Church with Pastor William Renkema officiating.  Interment Balcom Cemetery. 
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.  Arrangements by
Lake Funeral Home of Ionia.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American
Cancer Society or the Ionia Commission on Aging.
