Marjorie was born in Derby, England on October 27, 1923 to Archibald and Marjorie (Needham) Chapman. She married Joseph Vroman, Jr. on February 2, 1945 in England where he was stationed during WW II. She left her homeland and family to come to America to start a new life and family. Marjorie treasured her memory of sailing into the harbor of New York City aboard the Queen Mary on Easter morning with sunrise lighting the Statue of Liberty and the New York skyline. During her years in Lake Odessa she had been the bookkeeper for HSV Redi Mix. Marjorie was a longtime active member of the Zion Lutheran Church where she had served as treasurer and had sung in the choir for the past 48 years. She enjoyed knitting and sewing and delighted in spending time with her family. She is survived by her children, Patricia (Robert) Young, Phillip (Pauline) Vroman, Karen Russell, Barbara (Andrew) Wright, and Susan (Dudley) Kruger-Mills; grandchildren, Scott Farlee, Patricia Watson, Raymond Vaughn, Phillip Vroman, Jeremy Vroman, Clifford Kruger, Arthur Hayward, James Wright, William Wright, and Tina Anderson; 22 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; mother-in-law, Burnice Vroman; brothers, Gerald (Thelma) Chapman and Gordon (Jean) Chapman both of England; and many other loving relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Vroman, Jr.; her parents, Archibald and Marjorie Chapman; father-in-law, Joseph Vroman, Sr.; and son-in-law, Ted Russell. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday and 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the Koops Funeral Chapel in Lake Odessa. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 22, 2005 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Woodland. Burial will be in Woodland Memorial Park. The family has suggested that memorial contributions may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church.
