Ionia Sentinel, 8 Nov 1973

A former Portland resident, Mrs. Marie A. Vrooman, 82, died Wednesday at the 
Provincial house in Lansing.

She was born in Portland, December 26, 1890, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. 
Herman Rochlitz.

Surviving are two sons, Charles H. Pierce of Lansing and Leland A. Pierce of 
Harrisburg, Pa.; daughter, Mrs. Geraldine Torp-Smith of Wheaton, Ill.; nine 
grandchildren and two great grandchildren; sister, Mrs. Katherine Pline of 
Lansing.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Neller funeral home in 
Portland.  Rev. Ronald Lahr will officiate and interment will be at Portland 
cemetery.  Bearers will be Clarence Arnold, Guy Jones, Robert Olmstead, Vernon 
Smith, Thomas Jordan and William Pryor.
