April 5, 1934 HOLD LAST RITES FOR HARRY VUNK Died Saturday Night Following Short Illness From Pneumonia Funeral services for Harry Vunk, prominent Maple Corners farmer was held from the home Tuesday afternoon, in charge of Rev. W. E. Doty, pastor of the Portland Methodist church. Burial was made in Portland cemetery. Mr. Vunk died Saturday night after a short illness from pneumonia. He was taken with the attack and death came 36 hours later. He worked all day Thursday and refused to call a doctor until Friday. He was the son of Pioneer parents, Mr. and Mrs. William H. Vunk and was born 58 years ago on the farm just east of Maple Corners where his death occurred. He received his education in the district school at Maple Corners, the Portland high school and Ferris institute. After graduating from the latter place he taught school for several terms and then went back to the farm. Survivors are a sister, Cora of Traverse City, and one brother, Silas residing north of Maple Corners. Mr. Vunk was a bachelor.
