March 8, 1912 MRS. WACH'S OBITUARY Whose Death Was Mentioned in Last Weeks Wave-Times Martha A. Wachs nee Green was born August 10th 1842 in Hocking County, Ohio, died at her home in Lake Odessa Feb. 28th 1912, in her 70th year. She was married to Philip A. Wachs Feb. 8th 1870, near Groveport Ohio. Soon after they were married they came to Mich., and settled on their farm near West Odessa on March 5th, 1870. They lived on their farm 29 years, then moved to Lake Odessa, May 1st, 1899. She was converted in 1858 and joined the Baptist church in Ohio. She united with the U.B. church at West Odessa in 1870, of which she remained faithful a member of the W.C.T.U. and an active member of the Farmers' Club of which she was corresponding reporter for twelve years. She leaves to mourn their loss her husband, P.A. Wachs, Lula Mourer her only child, three grandchildren, Mrs Eirata Shroll, Elana and Ogal Mourer and many friends who mourn her departure. Sister Wachs was one of a large family, which consisted of twelve children, ten brothers and one sister. All of whom have preceded her to the spirit world. Her grandmother was at one time a prisoner among the Indians near the Ohio river for nine months. In the death of Martha A. Wachs the church has suffered a great loss, she will be missed in many places, as well as at her home, and among her many friends her voice is still forever on earth, but will join the loved ones in the praise of God at home in Glory. The funeral was held in the United Brethren Church Saturday March2 at 2 p.m.. The Pastor J. Addison Davis officiating, assisted by Rev.s Mourer and Laity. Th body was deposited in the vault at Lakeside. The singing was by Mr. Peter Quartell of the rescue Mission of Grand Rapids, Mrs. Ray Bird of the same place presiding at the organ. Mr. D.C. Wachs of Grand Haven a brother of P.A. Wachs was present. The local W.T.U. was present in a body and acted as escort.
