Lake Odessa Wave, 8 Apr 1904

George Wachter died last evening at 5 o’clock, of pneumonia, at the age of 79.  
He has been in feeble health all winter but was only confined to the bed one 
and a half days.  He has made his home for over two years with his daughter, 
Mrs. John Haberstumpf, 364 King street, where the funeral service will be held 
at 2 o’clock tomorrow afternoon.  He leaves a wife and seven children: Mrs. 
John Haberstumpf and Mrs. Wm. Jordan of this city, Leonard Wachter and Mrs. 
Samuel Garlinger, of Lake Odessa, and three sons, George, Henry, and William in 
the northern part of the state.  – Ionia Daily Standard, Wednesday.

Mr. Wachter formerly lived on a farm south of the lake, and he is well known 
here.  He has been in poor health for a number of years, and before he sold his 
farm a couple of years ago, his end was daily looked for, but he rallied, but 
has since been on the decline.
