Carl R. Wachter, 51, was found dead at his Leach Lake home in rural Hastings
Saturday afternoon.  Born in Woodland December 18, 1917 he was the son of
Leonard and Rose Garlinger Wachter.

A 1936 graduate of Woodland high school, he had been a resident of Hastings 21
years.  He was a veteran of World War II and a member of VFW of Nashville and
Lawrence Bauer American Legion post of Hastings.  He worked as a machine
operator for Hastings Aluminum company.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Paul Reese and Gail Wachter both of Lansing;
and a son David Wachter of Hastings; one grandson; sister, Mrs. Nick
Hollandsworth of Lansing.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Pickens funeral chapel in
Lake Odessa.  Interment will be at Lakeside cemetery.
