Died, on the evening of Feb. 16th, at his residence at Mr. Theodore Gunn’s, Mr. John Waddle, in the eightieth year of his age. Another pioneer has gone. Mr. Waddle came to Sebewa in the summer of 1841. He has lived to see the township cleared up and improved, as at first must have seemed impossible. Before the war he sold his farm to Mr. Isaac Bretz and has since been living in an humble way on the interest of his money. He was a man of strong personality and many peculiarities and few could come into contact with him even so briefly without remembering “Old Waddle.” His death was caused by an overdose of opium taken to break up a cold.
