Wagner Prominent Clothier Was Ill Only Few Days with Pneumonia; Was 39 Years of Age. Friends of Charles R. Wagner were saddened shortly after noon Friday to learn of his death at the family residence, 161 East Washington street. During the past few days, … [missing word] … his severe illness with pneumonia, his many friends and …[missing words] … had anxiously hoped for his speedy recovery, and the news of his death shocked the entire city. Mr. Wagner had been engaged in the clothing business in Ionia for 21 years, beginning in the employment of his brother, John Wagner. Three years ago Mr. Wagner and another brother, Harry F. Wagner, purchased the store from their brother, and since that time the business has been known as the Wagner Brothers’ clothing store. Mr. Wagner spent his boyhood days in the vicinity of Grand Ledge. He celebrated his thirty-ninth birthday anniversary October 3, 1925. He was united in marriage to Miss Bertha Allen. He is survived by his widow and little daughter Jane; also by four brothers, John F., of Grand Rapids; William H. and Albert E., of Lansing, and a twin brother, Harry F., of Ionia. He is also survived by four sisters, Mrs. D.A. Landenberger and Mrs. Charles Smalley of Lansing; Mrs. E.E. Valleau, of Mason, and Mrs. L. E. Wells, of Grand Ledge.
