RUBY E. WAIT
LAKE ODESSA - Ruby E. Wait, 106 and probably Ionia County's oldest resident, of
14230 Nash Highway, Lake Odessa, died Saturday at Pennock Hospital, Hastings.

Born Dec. 1, 1879, in Grass Lake, she was the daughter of John and Esther Hatt
Stadel.

She attended Darby rural school and was married Dec. 24, 1898, to William H. Waite
in Carlton Township. they lived and farmed in the Lake Odessa area all of their married
lives. He died Aug. 19, 1951.

She was a member of the Pleasant Valley United Brethren Church, the Women's
Missionary Association of the church, the Farm Bureau and the Women's Christian Temperance
Union.

Surviving are a son-in-law, Ralph Davis of Midland; a daughter-in-law, Helen Wait of
Lake Odessa;  four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Orpha Baumer
of Wayland and Ermma Near of Grand Rapids; and a sister-in-law, Maude Stadel of Holt.

A son, Lawrence, and a daughter, Evelyn Davis, preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. from the Pleasant Valley United
Brethren Church, with the Rev. Randy Hersey officiating. Burial will be in Clarksville
Cemetery.

The family will be at Koops Funeral Chapel, Lake Odessa, Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.
