Richard Keith Wakefield, 54, of Belding, passed away Wednesday morning, June 6, 
2007, at  Spectrum Health Blodgett Campus, Grand Rapids.  Richard was born on 
August 1, 1952 in Modesto, California, the son of John and Lois Hill Wakefield.

He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War in the United States 
Army.  For many years Richard worked at various automotive supply firms, 
including Checker Motors in Kalamazoo.  He also had a brief appearance in the 
movie “Blue Collar,” staring Richard Pryor.

He was preceded in death by his parents.  He is survived by his fiancé, Laura 
Rowe; his children, Michelle Cole and Joseph Cole, all of Muir; his brother and 
sisters, Donald and Nancy Buck of South Bend, Ind., Cathy and Bobby Parsons, 
Terry Wakefield, all of Knoxville, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.

In keeping with his wishes cremation has taken place.  Memorial services will 
be 7 p.m. Friday at Oakwood Christian Reformed Church, located between Belding 
and Greenville, with Pastor Coleman Moore officiating.  Memorial contributions 
may be given to the wishes of the family.  Envelopes will be available at the 
service.  Care and service were entrusted to Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, 
Belding.
