Waldren, 71, retired village employee, passed away on Friday morning at Pennock Hospital, Hastings, following an extended illness and had been hospitalized for 35 days. He was born at Coldwater July 30,1902, the son of William K. and Ellen (Foster) Waldren and moved to the Hastings area with his parents when 14 years old. Mr. Waldren married Mary Collins at Hastings February 4,1922 and they had resided at Lake Odessa for the past 46 years. He retired as Superintendent of the Village Water department in 1967, a position he held for 35 years. Previous to that time he was employed by the Pere- Marquette Railroad for nine years. Surviving are his wife; six daughters, Mrs. William (Vada) Bailey of Plainwell, Mrs.Kenneth (Vivian) Kimmel of Dimondale, Mrs Glenn (Ellen) Miller Jr. of Lowell, Mrs.Jack (Wreatha) Cooper of Ionia, Mrs. Lillian Hurlburt and Mrs.John (Leona) Caylor, both of Lake Odessa; a son Douglas of Mason; 8 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs.Anna Brock of Hastings and Mrs. Florence Wallace of Newaygo. Funeral services were held on Sunday at two o'clock at Pickens-Koops Funeral Chapel. Rev. Howard Vugteveen officiated with burial in Lakeside cemetery.
