James Walenta, 17, of 478 East Lincoln avenue died at Blodgett Memorial 
hospital Sunday, November 11, at 5:30 a.m. of a brain tumor.  He had been ill 
at home for some time before being removed by ambulance to the Grand Rapids 
hospital Tuesday night.

Surviving are the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Walenta, and a sister, Judith.

Services will be conducted at SS. Peter and Paul church Tuesday, November 13, 
at 9 a.m.   Interment will be at Mt Olivet cemetery.  Rosary will be said 
Monday at 7 p.m. at Myers funeral home.

Requiem high mass was sung by the Rev. Joseph Alkenis at SS. Peter and Paul 
church at 9 a.m. Tuesday for James Walenta, 17, who died at Blodgett Memorial 
hospital Sunday morning after being a patient there for a few days.  This was 
preceded by a prayer service at the Myers funeral home at 8:30 a.m.  Bearers 
were Mike Agostini, Tom McArdle, Harry Dixon, Jerry Vincent, Bud Bollinger and 
Warren Kennedy.  Interment was in Mt. Olivet cemetery.

Attending the services from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Kunkle, Mr. 
and Mrs. Ray Denny, Mrs. Lane Kamering, Mrs. Bert Selles and Mrs. Dorr Myarrd 
of Holland; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Winters and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Winters of Grand 
Haven; Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Grougal and son of Greenville; Mr. and Mrs. K. J. 
Walenta of Alma; Pete Zalbas, Joseph and Charles Lickman, and Mr. and Mrs. 
Anthony Lickman of Saginaw; Mrs. Robert Densmore of Portland; Bliss Grove and 
Mr. and Mrs. Edward Sheehan of West Olive and William Logie of Grand Rapids.
