Nov. 20, 1902 SUDDENLY STRICKEN Malcom C. Walker Died Saturday Morning In his Home at Demorest Flats – Felt Well as Usual on Retiring Malcom C. Walker received a sudden call from this life Saturday morning at an early hour. He retired to his bed in his usual health the night before at ten o’clock and slept well until about three o’clock in the morning, feeling somewhat restless he got up and ate a lunch. Shortly after retiring to his bed again Mrs. Walker discovered him breathing heavily and came alarmed at his symptoms. She hurriedly called Dr. Marjory Orr who resides in the same block and also Dr. Ferguson. The at once ascertained he was suffering from a stroke of apoplexy, and although they gave him the usual treatment for such cases and worked hard to revive him he passed away an hour later. Mr. Walker was 51 years old, and besides his wife he leaves six children all of whom are grown, among them being the Misses Grace and Kitty Walker and Mrs. Will Ing. Mr. Walker was a member of the order of Maccabees and also of the Buffaloes, he carried an insurance of $1000 in each and also $1000 in the New Era. He was a painter and day laborer and had done work for the city. Services were held at the home Monday, Rev. Horace N. Spear officiating and the remains were taken to Greenville for interment.
