Walker, 85, of 834 Beachview Drive, Jekyll Island, Georgia, died Thursday from automobile accident injuries. He was born Jan. 4, 1901, in Moline, Ill., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Rufus Walker. He was married to Kathleen Nichols in 1935, and she preceded him in death in 1945. He married Claudess Bradley in 1949. He was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Illinois. He was a member of the accounting staff of the Yellow Truck Co., and the GMC Truck and Coach Co. of Pontiac for 43 years, retiring in 1965. Mr. and Mrs. Walker moved to Jekyll Island in 1965 from Pontiac. They made their summer residence at the Bradley family farm in Lyons. He was a member of the Jekyll Island Lions club, and the GM Retirees. He is survived by one son, Joseph C. Walker Jr. of Bloomfield Hills; one brother, John Walker, of Pittsburgh, Pa.; two sisters, Charlotte Vorce and Margaret Moyle of Salt Lake City, Utah; and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the Muir Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Bette Dobbie officiating. Burial will follow in Lyons Cemetery. Visitation hours will be Sunday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., at the Hull Memorial Chapel in Muir, where a memorial fund for the American Cancer Society has been established.
