Walkington, 82, of 231 Hambrook St., died February 13 at the Bertha Hacker nursing home where he had been cared for for the past four months. He was born in Fairplains township, Montcalm county, May 16, 1877, and had lived here 18 years. He was employed as a machine operator at Extruded Metals before his retirement and had been secretary-treasurer of the Beardslee rural school board. He was married to Myrtle Krieder in 1919 and she died in 1940. He is survived by five daughters: Mrs. Herman (Jean) Fraling of Grand Rapids, Mrs. Gerald (Josie) Parker of Detroit, Miss Myrtle Walkington of Grand Rapids, Mrs. Russell (Doris) Cook of this city and Mrs. John (Gladys) Hubbard of Six Lakes; two sons, Ben Walkington of Greenville and Colin of this city; one brother: Fred of Blanchard, and 11 grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Wednesday at 2 o’clock at Huffman Funeral Home with Rev. John Yarworth of the Green Corners Baptist church officiating, and burial was in Fairplains cemetery.
