   WALKINGTON, LAURA B. (CARTER)(MRS. HAROLD):
   Rites Held for Mrs. Walkington 
Mrs. Laura B. Walkington, 64, of 1125 Tupper Lake St., Lake Odessa, passed away
Saturday afternoon at the Belding Christian Rest Home, where she had been a
patient about four months. She was born July 20, 1912, in Ionia County, the
daughter of Leon and Jennie (Augst) Carter and was a graduate of the class of
1928 of the Lake Odessa High School. She was also a graduate of the Western
Michigan University and had received her BS and Masters Degrees and had taught
school and was employed by the Barry County Special Education for 12 years. Mrs.
Walkington taught as a substitute teacher at the Clarksville schools in
1952-1953 and in the Lakewood Schools from 1958-1961 and then was employed as a
Type C. teacher in the Special Education Department of the Ionia County
Intermediate School District for several years before retiring. 
   She married Harold Walkington September 25, 1935 and they resided on a farm
in the Lake Odessa area, moving to Lake Odessa in 1954. Mrs. Walkington had
attended the Congregational and Methodist churches. 
   Surviving are her husband; a son, Arnold; two daughters, Mrs. Sherlyn
(Phyllis) Fetterman and Mrs. William (Laurine) Henry, all of Lake Odessa; a
brother, Morris Carter of Clarksville; three sisters, Mrs. Carl (Doris) Wheeler
of Middleville, Mrs. Sander (Evelyn) Schipper of Gun Lake and Mrs. Lee (Lois)
Meyers of Vassar and 12 grandchildren. 

   Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Pickens-Koops Funeral
Chapel. Rev. Richard Sessink officiated with burial in Lakeside Cemetery.
Arrangements by the Pickens-Koops Funeral Chapel.
