He was the youngest of a family of 16 children. He came to Michigan in the fall of 1847, settling on a farm in the township of Perry in Shiawassee County, teaching school winters and clearing and breaking new land summers. November 8, 1848, he married Jane E. Green. They had 7 children, 6 who are living. They moved from Perry to Ada February 22, 1865. He died Tuesday, August 17, 1907 at age 83 years, 7 months and 16 days. Mr. Wallace was converted at age 18 and joined the Baptist church and was a faithful follower of Christ all his life. He was a devoted husband and father, a faithful friend and brother and up to the time of his illness 2 years ago was always interested in his fellow man and affairs pertaining to their welfare. Funeral will be at Ada Baptist church and burial in Ada cemetery."
