Lake Odessa Wave, 16 & 23 Apr 1942

Mrs. Georgia Walter, wife of Wilbur Walter of Jordan Lake street died at her 
home Sunday after a long illness.  Nine years ago she with her husband came to 
Lake Odessa after she had been a resident of Grand Rapids 64 years.  She and 
Mr. Walter were married in 1923.

She leaves besides her husband, a foster daughter, four brothers, Dick, Jesse, 
Peter and William Pennell, and a sister Mrs. Eda Baley, all in Grand Rapids.  
The funeral was held Wednesday at the Wortley and Baine chapel and burial was 
in Lakeside cemetery.

Mrs. Walter was 75 years of age.

Georgeanna Pennell Nelson Walter was born January 23, 1871, and died at her 
home in Lake Odessa on April 12, 1942, aged 71 years, two months and 20 days.

She was married to Wilbur Walter on July 30, 1923, while living in Grand Rapids 
where she had lived all her life.  About ten years ago they moved to Lake 
Odessa where she has been an invalid much of the time.

Hers was a kind and loving nature, always trying to help those who were needier 
than herself and never turned a hungry person from her door.

She had no children of her own but she lavished her affections and her whole 
life on Marie Barns, a foster daughter who attended her through her last 
sickness and remained with her until the end.

She leaves to mourn her departure, her husband and daughter, four brothers, 
Richard, Jesse, Peter, and William Pennell and a sister, Mrs. Eda Baley, all in 
Grand Rapids, a score of nieces and nephews, and a community of neighbors and 
friends.
