At the stroke of 12, mid-night, on Wednesday of last week, Mrs. Carrie Walter (Burns), 56, passed to her final reward. She had been living with her daughter Mrs. Harold Curtis and husband at their home northwest of the village. She with her family, at one time several years ago, had been residents of Lake Odessa, where her children received their schooling. Funeral services were held at the home Saturday afternoon with Rev. C. N. Stormes in charge. Burial was made at Lakeside cemetery. OBITUARY Carrie Walter Burns, daughter of Malachi and Phila Burns, was born in Wichita, Sedwich county, Kansas, June 17, 1873, and died at mid-night Aug. 14, 1929, at the age of 56 years, 1 month and 28 days. At the age of two she came with her parents to Michigan where they settled on a farm in – west Odessa, now known as the Howard Klahn farm. She lived there until she was united in marriage to Wilbur Walter, Sept. 28, 1892. To this union were born two children, Clifford Walter, now living east of Lake Odessa and Eigie Curtis who lives northwest of Lake Odessa at whose residence she has made her home the past two years until her death. On June 24, 1927, she was suddenly taken with a stroke of paralysis from which she rallied and partially regained her health. On July 18, 1929, she was again stricken by the same affliction and lived until the Lord called her away. She was a kind and loving mother and will be greatly missed. She leaves two children, seven grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Bessie Healey of Pontiac and Mrs. Jennie Russell of Lake Odessa besides many sorrowing friends to mourn her departure.
