Shirley A. Walter, age 78, of Stoney Lake, Stanton, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 
25, 2009, at the Metro Health Hospital, Wyoming, Mich.

She was born in Charlotte on Nov. 18, 1930, the daughter of Earl and Helen 
(Beaton) French. She has been a resident of the Stanton area since 1992, 
formerly of Lansing and Ionia, but primarily of Ionia where she retired as a 
bus driver from the Ionia Public schools.

Shirley was married to Daryl Walter on March 19, 1949, in Angola, Ind. He 
preceded her in death in 2006. Also preceding her was a daughter, Judy Russell 
and a son-in-law, Bill Russell and a great-grandson, Andrew Russell.

She is survived by her children, Steve (Deb) Walter of Ionia, Diane (John) 
Martinac, and Brandi (Randy) Hall, all of Stanton, Kelly Conner of 
Guntersville, Ala., Rhonda (Jerry) Myers of Belding and Linda Harp of Michigan; 
11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and 3 sisters, Elaine (Robert) Brooks 
of Traverse City, Margie ( Bob) Eckhart of Mason and Donna Fast of Eaton Rapids.

In keeping with Shirley’s wishes, there will not be any visitation or funeral 
services held as cremation has already taken place. The Simpson Family Funeral
