Walter, 74, of Sheridan, passed away Thursday, Oct. 10, 2002, at his home. Robert was born Jan. 9, 1928, in Belding, the son of Chris and Elizabeth Hoy Walter. He graduated from Sheridan High School class of 1945. After completing school, Robert entered the military and served his country from 1950 to 1952. He married Mary Ellen Husted on Sept. 16, 1961, in Carson City. Before his retirement, he was employed at Carson Farm Service Co., Carson City. Robert was a member of Fenwick United Methodist Church and Six Lakes Senior Citizens. Robert enjoyed farming, driving his golf cart, playing cards, hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Yvonne Wagner; a son-in-law, Brian Day; and a brother-in-law, Robert Feyerabend. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen; a son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Eva Walter of Greenville; a daughter and son-in-law, Sheryl and Martin Swan of Sheridan; eight grandchildren; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Maxine and Kenneth Yaw of Pewamo and Janice Feyerabend of Big Rapids. Memorial services for Robert are 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22, at Fenwick United Methodist Church, Fenwick, with Pastor Larry Nalett officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Fenwick United Methodist Church. The family is being served by Brigham Funeral Chapel, Six Lakes.
