July 6, 1972 Service Held for Amelia D. Walter Miss Amelia D.Walter, 79, of 636 W. Madison, Hastings, died at 6:45 a.m., Sunday, July 2, at the Barry County Medical Care Facility where she had been a patient for five days. She was born in Woodland on January 23, 1893, the daughter of Jacob and Christina (Eisenbeis) Walter and attended Woodland area schools. She was employed by the Woodland telephone company for a few years before moving to Hastings about 1928. She had been employed as a supervisor at Michigan Bell in Hastings for 25 years, retiring in 1953. She was a member of Zion Lutheran church in Woodland, Martha circle of the church, and the Telephone Pioneers of America. She is survived by a nephew, (Bob) Ritter of Lansing; and 3 nieces, Mrs. Frank (Gladys) Fyan of Florida, Mrs. Beatrice Queen of Grand Rapids, and Mrs. Lawrence (Vera) Ryan of Hastings. Services were held Wednesday, July 5, at Zion Lutheran church with Rev. Randall Metz officiating . Interment was in lakeside Cemetery.
