GRETHEL Z. WALTER
Lake Odessa - Mrs. Grethel Z. Walter, 84, of route 2, died Thursday evening at the
home of her daughter, Mrs. Fred O'Connor of rural Nashville where she had lived for the past
three years.

A life-long resident of the Lake Odessa area. Mrs. Walter was born April 19, 1892,
in Odessa township, the daughter of Thomas and Laura Nye Swarthout. She attended lake 
Odessa Schools.

She married Clifford Walter May 1, 1916 in Ionia. He preceded her in death in 1973.
Mrs. Walter was a member of the Blue Star mothers, the three times four Club and the
West Odessa missionary Service.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Geneva O'Connor of rural Nashville; three sons,
Andrew, Fay and Robert of Lake Odessa; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Myrtle Patrick of
Seattle, Washington, three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Services are Saturday at 3 p.m. from the Pickens-Koop funeral chapel in lake Odessa
with President Kent Gibson of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints
officiating.

Burial is in lakeside cemetery.
