WALTER, SOUTH BOSTON FARMER PASSES - Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Methodist church for Fred M. Walter, well known South Boston township farmer who passed away at his farm home on US-16 near Clarksville after a long illness. Burial was at Saranac cemetery. Fred M. Walter, son of Alonzo and Emma Walter, was born July 12, 1888 and passed away December 22, 1941. On December 19, 1914, he was married to Gertrude Woodman. Their children are Edward W. Walter, Leona June Walter, and A. L. Walter. Edward lives near Saranac and the latter two at home. Besides the children, he leaves to mourn the passing two grandchildren, Edward Duane and Rosalyn Marie and an aged father-in-law as well as five sisters, Mrs. Unice Lake of Belding, Mrs. Edith Whitbeck of Clarksville, Lucia Shellenberger of Lake Odessa, Mrs. Eva Ellsworth of Brown Mill, and Mrs. Zella Storek, Ionia; three brothers, Christian Walter of Sheridan, Charles and Russell Walter of Ionia, a half sister, Mrs. Clara Stoner of Saranac. Mr. Walter was born at Elk Point, Dakota, and when a year and a half old, he came to MI with his parents, settling on his grandfather's farm on the Clinton Trail in Campbell township. He had lived most of his life in Campbell and Boston townships."
