Tuesday evening of an illness s of 13 weeks’ duration that followed the removal of her tonsils. During the period of her long illness she has been a patient in the Sunshine hospital in Grand Rapids and the Pennock hospital in Hastings. Mrs. Walter, the daughter of Mrs. and Mrs. Phillip Ayers, Saranac residents, was born September 14, 1896. She graduated from the Saranac high school and from the Ionia county normal and after teaching two years in Ionia county was united in marriage to Jay Walter December 31, 1923. She was active in the Order of Eastern Star and the American Legion auxiliary. Besides her husband and parents, she leaves three small children, Wava Marie, five; Robert J., three, and Janet Ruth, aged nine months; a brother, Stanley and a sister, Dorothy. Funeral services will beheld from the home Friday afternoon at 2 p.m.. Interment will be in the Saranac cemetery. Another Publication: The Ionia County News, Thursday, October 24, 1929 Mrs. Jay Walter, 33, of Saranac, died at her home Wednesday night after an extended illness from stipticoctic poisoning, the after result of an operation which she underwent about four months ago. Mrs. Walter who was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Ayers of Boston township was born here September 14, 1896 and has spent her entire life in the vicinity. She is a graduate of the Saranac High school and the Ionia Normal school. Mrs. Walter taught school in several of the district schools in the vicinity before her marriage. Besides her parents Mr. and Mrs. Ayers, she is survived by her husband, Jay, three children, Wade Marie, 5; Robert Jay, 3; and Janice Ruth, 9 months, a brother Stanley Ayers and one sister, Dorothy. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and of the American Legion Auxiliary. Funeral services for Mrs. Walter will be held from her home south of Saranac Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. Arrangements for the funeral have not yet been entirely completed.
