George Walter was born at Elksun township, Columbiana county, Ohio, June 4th, 
1820 and died at his home in Boston township, October 12th, 1915, age 95 years 
4 months and 7 days.

He was married March 9, 1843 to Hanna Armstrong, residing in Elksun until 1848 
then moving to Hancock county.  After 18 years of labor he succed in providing 
a home, which he sold in 1866 and come to Michigan, and bought the farm home 
in Boston township, at which place he has since resided.

To this worthy couple nine children were born, seven sons and two daughters, 
all living to grow to man and womanhood.  On March 9, 1893 all gathered at the 
family home, with grandchildren and great grandchildren, to help father and 
mother celebrate their golden wedding, it was an occasion long to be cherished 
in the mind of each, as it was an unbroken family circle, there never having 
been a death in all of the years of their wedded life, a blessing that comes 
to but few.  But after fifty-five years the family circle was broken, death 
claiming the mother on April 3, 1898 and again on September 19, 1913, when 
brother George was called.

There is left to mourn his loss six sons and two daughters, Henry C., 
Armstrong, John, Hamilton, Lumbert and Freemont, all of Boston township, Mrs. 
Susen Oberson of Detroit and Mrs. Eliza Shubugh of Long Beach California; 
besides twenty grand children and one brother in Ohio.  The funeral was held 
from the old home in Boston on Thursday, October 14.  Rev. E. Woolley 
officiating.
