Leon A. Walter, aged 87, of Saranac passed away September 1, 2007.  He was 
born January 7, 1920 in Boston Twp. The son of Homer A. and Hattie (Daussman) 
Walter.  He married Mary Witbeck July 28, 1941 she preceded him in death May 
15, 1974. He married Doris Kimble October 30, 1974.  He was Boston Twp. 
Supervisor for 20 years.  He was a member of the
Michigan Milk Producers Association. Member of the Michigan Animal Breeders 
Coop.  He loved gardening and fishing. He would cook the fish he caught and 
take it to his wife Doris in Lowell.

He is survived by his wife Doris Walter of Lowell. Son David and Alice Walter 
of Saranac. Daughter Linda and James Gibbins of Oklahoma. Step Children Pat 
and Larry Wittenbach of Iron Mountain, Donna and Bill Newell of Lowell, Jackie 
and Fran Borup of Saranac, Dan and Blanche Hale of Saranac, Beverly and John 
Thome of Kalamazoo and Nancy and Jay Offenbacher of Saranac. Grandchildren 
Chris and Rayanne Walter of Sturgis, Jeff Walter of Saranac, Amy Hazel of 
Springport and Rebecca and Lynn Mazurek of Woodland. 9 Great Grandchildren 2 
Great Great Grandchildren. Many Step Grandchildren, great grandchildren and 
great great grandchildren. Special Cat "Lady,”  He was preceded in death by 
his parents and one sister Lois.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday 1:00 P.M. at the Lake Funeral Home in 
Saranac with Rev. Kenneth Harger officiating. Interment Saranac Cemetery. 
Visitation will be on Wednesday 2-4 and 7-8:30 P.M. at the Funeral Home. 
Anyone wishing may make memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society.
