Walton, 82, of 117 South Jackson street died Sunday at 3 a.m. at the Ionia County Memorial hospital. He had been a patient there for one week. He was born April 5, 1873 in New York state and came to Middleville in 1900 where he entered into the bakery business. On February 27, 1901 he was married to Katherine Coykendall. In 1906 Mr. and Mrs. Walton went to Albion where they operated a bakery until 1922 and later went to Tecumseh where they engaged in the bakery business for one year. They later went to Bryan, Ohio where they were in business until 1938 at which time they came to Ionia. Mr. Walton retired from active business in 1945 and the couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1951. He was a member of the First Methodist church of Ionia. Besides his wife Katherine, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Wayne Winans of Piqua, Ohio, and three sons, Charles Jr. of Piqua, Ohio, Burr of Mt. Pleasant, and Max of Cadillac; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held at the Boynton funeral home Tuesday morning at 11 o’clock with the Rev. Heath T. Goodwin officiating. Burial will be in the family lot at Bryan, Ohio.
