The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, January 2, 2008

Ardis Lavone Wandel, aged 79, of Ionia passed away January 1, 2008. She was 
born June 16, 1928 in NorthStar, Michigan the daughter of Harley and Nora 
(Furney) Gardner.  She married Andrew M. Ciganick in 1947. He preceded her in 
death in 1975. She married Theodore Wandel in 1976.

She worked for Ionia County Memorial Hospital as a Nurses Aide in the Labor 
and Delivery Dept. for 37 years.  She was a member of the Mothers Study Club 
in Ionia, Ionia Extension Club, Restless Ones Camping Club and the Red Hat 
Society. She continued her connection with Ionia Hospital by later 
volunteering there for many years. She loved to travel.

She is survived by her husband Theodore Wandel of Ionia. Children; Susan and 
Tom Verellen of Shelby Twp., Dave and Pam Ciganick of Bellaire, Connie Coates 
of Florida, Shirley Malloy of North Carolina, Gary and Laura Wandel of 
Onadago, Jim and Cindy Wandel of Springport, Paul and Bev Wandel of Mulliken 
and Betty Lou and Ed Wise of Okalahoma. 1 sister Lucille Christie of Idaho. 
Grandchildren; Kelly and Ron Hart, Katie and Kevin Barnwell, Michele and Tom 
Longo, Tanner Ciganick, Dillon Weiderman, MacKenzie Ciganick and Halle 
Ciganick. 15 Great Grandchildren. Several Step Grandchildren and Great 
Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers Lyle and 
Frank and 2 sons in law Thomas VanDenBulke and Bill Coates.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Wandel will be held Friday 10:30 A.M. at the Shiloh 
Community Church with Rev. Kenneth Harger officiating. Interment Balcom 
Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday 4-8 P.M. at the Lake Funeral Home in 
Ionia, and Friday 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church.  Anyone 
wishing may make memorial contributions to Shiloh Community Church or Seasons 
Hospice.
