Ionia Daily Sentinel-Standard, 11 Aug 1944

Elmer G. Wandell, 77, lifelong Ionia county resident, died Thursday morning at 
10:50 o’clock at the Ionia County Memorial hospital where he had been a patient 
for several weeks.

Born in Easton township in 1866, Mr. Wandell had lived most of his life near 
Lyons.  His wife died several years ago.  Surviving him is a son, Harold 
Wandell of Lyons, two daughters, Mrs. Charles McCarthey of Flint and Mrs. 
Charles Michael; 13 grandchildren; ?? great-grandchildren; a brother, Lorin 
Wandell of Lyons; two sisters, Mrs. Clara Shimmerhorn of Traverse City and Mrs. 
Cora Courtwright of Big Rapids; also a half-brother L. J. Wandell, of Easton.

Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock in the Lyons 
Methodist church.  Rev. Gerald Jacobs will officiate and burial will be in the 
family lot in Lyons cemetery.

The body will repose at the church one hour before services.  Pall bearers will 
be George Staley, Francis Peckins, Alfred Faxon, Gar Dickerson, George Miller 
and Frank Cooper.
