Ionia Sentinel Standard, 27 Dec 2000

Josephine Wapiennik, 90, of Owosso, and formerly of Ionia, passed away Tuesday,
Dec. 19, 2000, in St. Johns.  She was born March 7, 1910 to John and Agnes
(Stoj) Krycinski in Trenton, N.J.  Mrs. Wapiennik moved to Ionia when she was
two years old in 1912 and lived in Ionia until two years ago.  She was graduated
from 8th grade from SS. Peter & Paul Academy and then graduated from Ionia High
School, receiving her diploma in 1979.  

She married Frank Wapiennik March 30, 1940 in Grand Rapids.  He preceded her in
death April 27, 1994.  She was a long-time member of SS. Peter & Paul Church in
Ionia, a member of the Rosary Society and a former member of the Ionia Elks.

She is survived by one son, Frank (Carolyn) Wapiennik, of Potterville; one
daughter, Corinne (Robert) Bennett, of Laingsburg; two grandchildren, Frankee
(Matt) Catlin and Robert (Michelle) Bennett; two great-grandchildren, Kyle and
Jessica; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was preceded in death by
her husband, two brothers and one sister.

The funeral Mass will be offered 11 a.m. Thursday from SS. Peter & Paul Catholic
Church in Ionia with Fr. Melvin Fox presiding.  The family will meet relatives
and friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church before the mass. 
Interment will be in Balcom Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to SS.
Peter & Paul Church Memorial Fund or to Ionia County Commission on Aging.
