Ionia Weekly Standard, page 5, 7 Jun 1895

Nellie E., youngest daughter of Mrs. Cornelia J. Wardle, died at two o’clock
Saturday p.m., following an illness of less than a month, of consumption.  The
funeral will be attended on Monday, at 2 p.m. from the residence of her brother,
C.B. Wardle, Lafayette street.  The loss falls with distressing force upon the
aged mother, who thus lays away the second of her two youngest children, within
a comparatively brief space of time.  The brothers and sisters, also suffer a
severe affliction, and a large circle of young friends will mourn her death as a
separation from a lovable young companion.  She was aged 18 years.

Miss Nellie Wardle’s illness, was from brain fever, and this, also, was the
immediate cause of her death.  There is an erroneous impression current that her
death was due to consumption.
