A telegram was received Saturday, stating that the remains would reach here Monday afternoon and that there would be no service here. No word of her illness had been received by Portland friends. She went to Bay City in December, intending to remain during the winter. She has been somewhat indisposed for two weeks and last Tuesday suffered a stroke of apoplexy from which she did not rally. Mr. and Mrs. Ward came to Portland more than 40 years ago. Mr. Ward was a tailor and died about 15 years ago. Frank Ward, an only son, died at Ionia some time ago and his widow has been living in Bay City of late. Mrs. Ward would have been 80 years old had she lived until June. She was an unusually active woman for one of her years and seemingly in good health when she left Portland.
