He came to America in June 1846, and was married at Auburn, N.Y., in 1849, to Ellen Byrne, and resided there until 1855, when he with his little family sought a home in Southern Michigan, settling at Homer, Calhoun Co., where he lived until 1866, when he again sought to better his financial condition by purchasing a farm in Sebewa township, where he lived, with the exception of two years in Portland, until the death of his wife, six years ago, when he came to this city to live with his daughter, Mrs. J. M. Booth. He had been a familiar figure on our streets up to ten months ago, when he seemed to be seized with a longing for the old house and home, and returned to the farm to live with his son, P. J. Ward. Besides his four children, all residents of this county, he leaves two brothers and two sisters, residents of Auburn, N. Y.
