Ward of 1233 Jordan Road, died Friday afternoon at Provincial House in Hastings where he had been a patient since June 1977. He was born February 6, 1890 in Two Rivers, the son of Henry and Clara Hager Ward. He attended school in Two Rivers and on May 10, 1912, he married Lailah Robedeaux in Beriton. Ward owned and operated a general department store in Beriton several years before moving to Clarksville in 1920 where he owned and operated a grocery store for two years. In 1922 he moved to Rockford where he operated a similar type of store. In 1924 he moved to Alma where he was bookkeeper and field manager for Libby, McNeil, Libby Company for 15 years. He moved to Lake Odessa in 1939 where he operated a service station and was later employed by Western Auto, retiring in 1965. He was a member of Clarksville Masonic Lodge 451. Survivors include wife, Lailah; two daughters, Mrs. Melvin (Francis) Williams and Mrs. Marguerite Robbins, both of Lake Odessa; two brothers, Charles and Martin Ward, both of New Hudson; two grandchildren and three great- grandchildren. Funeral services were today at 1:30 p.m. at Pickens-Koops Funeral Chapel of Lake Odessa under the auspices of the Clarksville Masonic Lodge. Burial was in Lakeside Cemetery.
