Ward, 60, of Jackson who spent many of his boyhood summers at Muir with his aunt and uncle, the late Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Culbertson, died Saturday afternoon in Jackson. Funeral services will be conducted in Jackson Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock, and burial will be there. Mr. Ward had been in poor health several months. Last spring he submitted to an operation for appendicitis and while operating the surgeons discovered an intestinal growth. He went to Rochester, Minn., as soon as he was able after the first operation and at Rochester submitted twice to surgery and seemed to be recovering and had been able to be at the office in the McLaughlin & Ward elevator shop where he is a member of the firm some time. Two weeks ago he became ill and continued thus until his death. Surviving are the widow and four children and his 80-year-old mother, all of Jackson. Mr. Ward was a graduate of the Jackson high school. While a young man he entered the firm which bears his name and which owns several elevators about the state. He was prominent in civic affairs, was a member of the Masonic lodge, Kiwanis club and had been chairman of the Jackson county Red Cross.
