The Ionia County News, Thursday, February 6, 1936

Funeral services for Mrs. Hannah E. Ward, who died at the home of her son, Roy 
Ward, in Ionia township, Monday morning, February 3, were held from the home 
Wednesday afternoon at 1:30, with Rev. M. W. Duncy officiating.  The body will 
remain at the Stebbins Funeral Home until the roads are open, when burial will 
be made at McBrides.

Mrs. Ward was born in Marion, Ohio, March 11, 1852, and came to Michigan in 
her girlhood.  She was united in marriage with Samuel Ward and they lived at 
McBride’s until Mr. Ward’s death in 1900.  A year later Mrs. Ward came to make 
her home with her son, Roy, in Ionia township.

Other relatives are two daughters, Mrs. Sarah Wygard, Lansing; Mrs. Carrie 
Hatten, Crystal; four sons, John F. and William A., Ionia; Charles H., Grand 
Rapids, and James Edward, Marquette; twenty-one grandchildren and 40 great-
grandchildren.
