The Ionia Daily Sentinel-Standard, Saturday, May 31, 1952

Miss Donna Ward, 27, of Grand Rapids died Friday, May 30, at 1:45 a.m. at 
Butterworth hospital after being a patient there since Tuesday morning.  She 
was transferred there after being hospitalized at the Ionia County Memorial 
hospital since Thursday night.

She was born December 6, 1924, in Hubbardston, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas 
Ward.  She attended Hubbardston rural schools and graduated from SS. Peter and 
Paul Academy.  She worked in the office of the bomber plant at Willow Run 
during the war and then returned to Ionia to work at the Ionia Manufacturing 
company office.  She worked for the drain commissioner’s office in the Ionia 
courthouse for three years, leaving there March 1, 1952, and was employed at 
the Michigan Veteran’s Facility in Grand Rapids.  While in Ionia she had also 
worked part time at the Ionia Creamery office and at the City Fruit Market.

She was to have been married September 13 in Hubbardston to Herbert Engemann 
of Belding.

She was a member of St. John the Baptist church in Hubbardston, the Daughters 
of Isabella and the Women of the Moose.

Surviving are the parents; four brothers, Leon of Hubbardston, Max of Grand 
Rapids and Robert and James M. at home; three sisters, Mrs. Knight Kreuger of 
Muir, Mrs. Lyle Cunningham of Ionia and Jeanne of Lansing; and a grandmother, 
Mrs. Wiggins, of near Grand Rapids.

The body will repose at the family farm home near Hubbardston until Monday 
morning where it will be removed to the St. John the Baptist church for 
service at 10 a.m. Burial will be in the St. John the Baptist cemetery.
