Handlon Ward, 90, Carson City, died Monday, May 15, 2000, at her home. She was born Oct. 16, 1909, in North Plains Township, Ionia County, to John and Julia Welch Handlon. She married Louis James Ward. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Carson City, and the Altar Society. She worked for Carson City Hospital as a nurse’s aide. She graduated from St. John the Baptist Catholic School, Hubbardston. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Jackie Ward of Greenville, Bernard and Charlene Ward of Hubbardston, two daughters and one son-in-law, Marlene and Richard Stroud of Eagle, Margaret Cross of Carson City; 19 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and a special child, Nicole Montague. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Ward, and son Roger Ward, in 1967; her parents, John and Julia Handlon; three brothers, Edward, Tom and Norm Handlon; two sisters, Kathleen Brunn and Margaret Ward. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Carson City, with the Rev. William Reitz officiating. Interment will be in Maryknoll Cemetery, Carson City. Visitation will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today, with the rosary service at 8 p.m. at the Lux and Schnepp Funeral Home, Carson City. Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
