WARD PASSES AWAY DEATH CAME LAST NIGHT AT 8:45 AT HIS HOME ON WASHINGTON STREET Was Employed at Reformatory for Nineteen Years. Had Been Sick For Five Weeks. Frank E. Ward, a long time and well known resident of Ionia, died last night at his residence on East Washington street at a little before 9 o'clock after an illness of five weeks with paralysis. Mr. Ward was taken ill five weeks ago while looking at a tenant house of his and since that time has gradually failed. For the past week he has been unconscious most of the time. Mr. Ward had been a resident of Ionia for many years, for the past 14 years a having been chief clerk at the reformatory a position which he took when Mr. Douglass took the deputy wardenship. For five years previous to that he was bookkeeper in the furniture department. Pervious to that he was with the Grand Trunk railroad for many years. He was always been prominent in local lodge circles being a member of the Royal Arcanum, The Maccabees of the World, the Foresters and the Elks, and also a Mason. He was a member of the finance committee of the Grand council Royal Arcanum at the time of his death. Mr. Ward was 59 years of age at the time of his death. He leaves besides a widow two children, Will and Mabel. The son is somewhere in Dakota. Miss Mabel is here from Saginaw. The time for the funeral has not yet been set, waiting word from the son, and an announcement will be made later. Monday, June 30, 1913 The funeral for the late Frank E. Ward will be attended from the residence, East Washington street, on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. Cyrus Mendehall will conduct the services and burial will be in Highland Park cemetery. Service at the grave will be conducted by the Elks.
