Wave, Wed. Feb. 8, 1984 PORTLAND- Arza A. Ward. 74. of 234 Meadow Lane, Portland, died Jan. 31, in a Lansing Hospital. He was born Sept. 7, 1909, in Ionia, the son of John and Ada Mae Ensign Ward. A veteran of World War II, he was a member of Portland VFW, Post 4090. His wife Margaret preceded him in death in 1963. Surviving are three sons, Richard of Lyons, Walter of Palo and Harry of Ionia; two stepdaughters, Elizabeth G. McGriff of St. James City, Fla. and Hazel Simmons of Mulliken; two stepsons, Raymond Reed of Sunfield and Charles Reed of Portland; one brother, Clifford of Matlacha, Fla., and two sisters, Edith Roberts of Ionia and Thursa Bailey of Portland. One son preceded him in death. Rosary services were held at Neller Funeral Home at 3 p.m. Thursday. Funeral mass was Friday at 11 a.m. from St. Patrick's Church, Portland, the Rev. Richard Van Lente officiating. Burial was in Portland Cemetery, with military graveside services performed by members of Portland VFW, Portland.
