Lake Odessa Wave-Thursday October 28, 1947

John Ward Funeral held Here Oct. 22

John A. Ward, 74, passed away Monday morning at the Michigan Veteran's facility 
in Grand Rapids, where he had resided for the past 10 years. He was a Spanish-
American war veteran and retired railroad man.

The family resided here for many years and following the death of his wife he 
sold his home here and moved to Grand Rapids. Surviving are a daughter Miss Dena 
Ward of Grand Rapids and a brother Henry at Romeo.

Funeral services were held at the Pickens Funeral Chapel here at 9 a.m. 
Wednesday. Burial was in Evergreen cemetery at Kalkaska with Spanish-American 
war veteran of Lake Odessa and Ionia in charge, and the Rev. Ronald A. Hoffman 
officiating.
