                              Clara Marie Ward

Clara Marie Ward;, Formerly of South Ionia, age 90, passed away on Saturday, 
June 7, 2008 at Heartland Healthcare Center in Ionia.

She was born on Dec.17, 1917 in Riverdale, Mich., the daughter of James and 
Lillian (Corder) Wilson. Clara loved to bake cookies and candy and deliver then 
to everyone. She touched the hearts of everyone she met.

She married Elijah Ward, Sr. on Dec.28, 1933 in Rodney, Mich., and he preceded 
her in death in 2007. Also preceding her in death were twin sons, James in 2000 
and Ezra at birth; sister, Norma Wise; two half sisters and two half brothers.

She leaves a son Elijah(Joan) Ward.Jr. of Fenwick; daughter Lillian (Frank) 
Spratto of Portland; grandchildren, Don Ward of Rhode Island, Dennis Ward of 
Ionia, Colon and Daryl Battle of Ionia, Cheryl O'Connor of Portland, Diana 
Fillwock of Williamston, Frank Ward of Ionia, Laurie Wittenbach of Ionia and 
Kris Ward of Fenwick; 14 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren and 
several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be conducted by the Rev.Kenneth Harger of Shiloh 
Community Church at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at the Schrauben-Lehman 
Funeral Homes, 220 Rich St.,Ionia. Interment follows at Balcom Cemetery.
A luncheon will follow the interment at Shiloh Community Church. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on 
Tuesday. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the Ionia 
Area Hospice or the American Alzheimers Association, in memory of Clara Marie
