The Ionia Daily Sentinel-Standard, Thursday, December 26, 1940
Charles W. Ward died Christmas afternoon at his farm home in Ionia township 
following several months of illness.  He was born September 16, 1868 near 
Cattaraugas, New York, the son of Mr. and Mrs. George E. Ward.  When he was 10 
years old he moved to Montcalm county with his parents.  He lived in that 
county until 23 years ago when he moved to Ionia township with his wife.  He 
married Leah J. Wedge November 28, 1888.  They celebrated their golden wedding 
anniversary two years ago.  He was a carpenter by trade.  

Surviving are the wife, Leah, and one sister, Mrs. Ernestine (illegible), 
three nephews and three nieces.  Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 
p.m. from the home. Interment will be at Amble in Montcalm County.
