         Douglas Eugene Ward

Died July 7, 2024-age 71 of Muir
Born July 11, 1952 son of Kenneth & Mary (Thomas) Ward in Ionia.
Doug was passionately known for his love of cooking, hunting, fishing, his 
corvette, family & making candy.
Doug shared memories of his parents camping & working in his dad's body shop.
Doug was a proud member of the football team & band while in High School.
He graduated Portland High School in class of 1970.
Doug worked at General Tire & Straight Steel & Wire before retiring from The 
State of Michigan Department of Corrections.
Surviving is hs wife of 15 years,Sharon (Dye) Ward.,His children,Heather (Brett) 
Steinbacher & Sara (PJ. Dolton) Ward,Grandchildren Evan, Brayton & Blake 
Steinbacher, Jack & William Dolton.Step-children Rebecca Ward, Cynthia 
(Patrick)Camp & Tim Ward. Step-grandchildren, Courtney, Christian & Kayden Camp. 
Brother Mike(Diane) Ward. Nephews Todd (Denise) Ward & Tim (Mandy) Ward & his 
favorite dog, Maggie.
He enjoyed the outdoors,& making others laugh.
Special thanks to Hospice of Michigan & his Doctors that cared for him.
Funeral services will be held at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia on Wednesday,July 
10, 2024 at noon.
Interment in Balcom Cemetery.
Visitation 2 hours prior to services (10-12). Luncheon to follow at Lyons Bar & 
Banquet Hall at 243 E.Bride St.,Lyons,MI.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family or to Hospice of Michigan.
